dBs Patchbay: Matt Ward

March 27, 2025 5:30 PM
Plymouth

Learn how modular synthesis works and how it can be integrated into your own music

Join us on Thursday 27th March for a free workshop with Matt Ward (Mr Vinyl) in which he takes a deep dive into the world of modular synthesis; creating rhythmic and melodic patches to build a complete track

dBs Patchbay is a dedicated space at dBs Institute in Plymouth, providing a space for emerging and established music professionals to showcase their expertise across a wide range of musical fields.

Our next event focuses on modular synthesis, hosted by Mr Vinyl (Matt Ward), an electronic music pioneer, DJ and passionate advocate of modular synths. Mr Vinyl will demonstrate how modular synths work and explore the movement behind the Eurorack system.

Starting with a simple sound, Mr Vinyl will introduce a few patching techniques to create rhythms and melodies that could form a completely new track. Using just a handful of modules, he could produce an entire track on a modular Eurorack system without needing any other instruments.

This workshop is a fantastic hands-on opportunity to explore modular synthesis, learn new topics, and connect with like-minded music enthusiasts. Whether you're looking to develop your knowledge, meet fellow creatives, or simply discover something new, this event is not to be missed!
